NYC.
Just an FYI for all my devoted readers, if I have any: I will be vacationing in New York through next week, so updates here will be bare if at all until I return. Trust me, I’d really rather be posting to tumblr rather than see John Lackey shut down the Yanks or devouring delicious, world famous New York Pizza. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to suffer for a little while.

The Scrolling Experience and “The Fold” →
Take away lessens: The importance of the “fold” is overstated, elements don’t need to be above the fold to be prominent, and that the interaction of scrolling a webpage is a lot more nuanced than above or below the fold.

I Might Need A Lawyer After This
If there is a FSF nut-job in front of me in line at the Genius Bar when I have laptop in tote peppering a Genius about why the iPhone isn’t “free” I am going to punch that fucker in the face. End of story.
That is the latest scheme hatched by the FSF Propaganda Department. The grand plan is to send FSF activists into the Apple Store and quiz the resident Genius. There is, of...

“Special relativity is the girl you meet at the dorm party while you’re dating electrodynamics. You make out. It’s not really cheating because it’s not like you call her back. But you have a sneaking suspicion she knows electrodynamics and told her everything.” Via Kotke.
Embodied Energy →
This is one reason why I think we need to focus on new technologies that negate the impact of energy consumption and not so much focus on using old energy in conservation. *cough* More *cough* Nuclear *cough* Energy *cough*

Teens Get Drunk On Award-Winning Microbrew →
“Though none of the teens were able to comment on the Nut Brown Stout’s chocolatey aroma or its surprisingly smoky almond finish, Rosenthal did say that it had ‘fucked him up majorly’ and that he was ‘seriously payin’ the price.’”
Daniel Mall on the Dark Knight →
I’m not particularly a comic book geek, but I think it would be helpful to—instead of viewing this as a single movie—to view both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as two episodes of a single work. In that sense, The Dark Knight is an extrapolation of Batman Begins.

I’ve scratched my head, read it again, scratched some more. Did some research on Wikipedia. Then went back and read it again to see if I got it then. I don’t. I’m still unsure of what the Free Software Foundation is getting at with their objections to the iPhone—and in particular what the whole movement’s goals are supposed to be.
